about

This piece came about because of my interest in complex time signatures. The percussion and guitar on the left is in 7/4 (pashto and rupak taals) and the percussion and guitar on the right is in 8/4 (bhajani and teen taals). The BPM are the same so that every 56 beats the two meters share a downbeat, then start diverging again.
The melody (sitar, harmonium, dilruba and Mohan Veena) are in 7/4. I'm playing all the melodic instruments on this original piece. The tablas and cajons are loops that I chopped up and restructured.
